My 2010 Summer

Vicki and I went to Wolfe Island twice this past summer to visit Lady M.  The first time we went was in July and we discovered Lady M had new guests ... stray, feral kitties.  Vicki named them Pumpkinhead, Limpy, Other Twin, and Blueberry.  We tried to catch them so we can take them to the Humane Society, but only caught the one.  We went again in August because other weekend went by way too fast for us.  This time we cut down some tree branches and had a BBQ over dry drift wood.  I spent both weekends swimming, chatting, eating good food and taking pictures.

This is either Limpy or the Other Twin:

I went to Winnipeg the long weekend of August to visit my dad, aunts and uncles.  It had been 7 years since I had last seen my dad and it was a nice visit.  We went to The Forks, took a boat tour and walked around downtown Winnipeg.

In August, I spent a weekend at my parents' trailer on the St. Lawrence near Prescott.  I went out on the boat and did some sightseeing, played bingo and ate good food.

Crazy things happening at Rockcliffe Park

Pam and I went to take Rockcliffe Park and we came across this group dressed in costumes and were filmed acting out parts of a movie or a play.  I wish I had a super duper lens to zoom in on their costumes. Pam, next time bring the big lens. :)

Sun and Sand at the Beach

Today, I went with my nieces Rachel, Jen and her husband Kevin to Sandbanks in Picton. We laid on the beach and soaked up the rays while we slept, read or watched the kiddies playing near us. We went in the water a couple of times and the water was really cold at first, then you get used to the temperature while swimming around and finding warm spots. We stopped on our way back for some food: pogo for me, small fries for Rachel, hot dog for Kevin and Jen and Kevin shared a poutine (fries with gravy and cheese curds). We also stopped at Slickers in Bloomfield for ice cream. Everyone in my family loves ice cream. We all had the campfire ice cream flavour and it really does taste like roasted marshmallows from the campfire. My second scoop was margarita, which tasted faintly of lime. It needs more lime and that salt texture or margarita flavour. Now we are on our way back to the cottage and relax for the evening.

Antiques & Bloomfield

I'm visiting my sister this weekend at her cottage on Lake Ontario. Today, I went with my sister and brother-in-law to Bloomfield, Ontario, which is a quaint little village with shops for tourists. We also visited antique shops along the way to Bloomfied from Consecon and we've bought some green beans for dinner, cheese bread and sugared donuts. My brother-in-law and I started to get hungry and we stopped for lunch, which was black bean cilantro soup and egg salad sandwich. After lunch we went down the other side of the street and then we went to Slickers for ice cream. We each had Campfire Cream flavour and it tasted like roasted marshmallows and I also had a scoop of Chocolate Orange. My sister's had Butter Tart for her second scoop. The ice cream was smooth, creamy and all natural. We're on our way back to the cottage and our Cabana Boy (brother-in-law) will be getting our drinks and will build us a fire.

Travel Plans for 2010

So far this year, I've been to Mont Tremblant for skiing and New Years, and last month, I went to Vancouver/Whistler for a couple days of skiing.  So what's next?  I will be visiting my sister this Canada Day weekend at her cottage, which is situated on Lake Ontario in Consecon (near Trenton, Ontario).  Vicki and I will be going to Wolfe Island (Kingston, Ontario) in July for our annual weekend visit with Lady M.  Some of us will be going to Kingston, Ontario the end of October for Skate Canada International 2010.  Finally, Vicki, Nina, Pam, and I have booked our flights to Morocco and booked a 2 week guided trip called "Colours of Morocco" with Intrepid Travel.  The trip commences in Casablanca and finishes in Marrakesh, it also includes a camel trek to the desert and we camp there overnight.  After the trip, Vicki and Pam will return to Canada, and Nina and I are going to Spain for 9 days.  I told Nina that I want to be in Barcelona for my birthday, which means we will be there for at least 4-5 days.  Now we need to figure out if we'll spend the entire week there or go somewhere else in Spain for 3-4 days.  I discovered that my birthday is a national holiday in Spain and every city has a big festival the night before.  I'm super excited about all my trips with different countries, involving many forms of transportation, people and unique destinations.  :)
